First distribute -3 into x and -4, you're left with -3x+12+8. After that add like terms and you're left with -3x+20. You do the same to the other side, distribute the 4 into 2x-1 and you get 8x-4-9. Then you add like terms. It becomes 8x-13. You then add 3x to both sides, you get 20=11x-13 you ‚Äčthen add 13 to both sides and you get 33=11x . You then divide 11 to both sides and you get x=3.

By solving this linear equation first we must leave 8x like that and use the distributive property for -3. We multiply -3 by x and then get the solution of -3x. We then do the same to -3 and -4 and get positive 12. Then we would have to 8x subtract 3x plus 12 equals 2x subtract 9. That's when we combine 8x and subtract 3x because they are like terms and get the solution 5x. Then the equation would 5x subtract 12 equals 2x subtract 9. Then we subtract 2x from both sides and the new equation would be 3x plus 12 equals -9. After getting that we subtract 12 from both sides and then it would be 3x equal -21. Last, we divide 3 on both sides which would lead to getting rid of the 3 in front of the x. Now x stands alone. Dividing -21 by 3 would equal -7. So x equals -7.
